My books are free after all! WHOOPS!

I wrote a post yesterday based on what I thought was fact. I was wrong. My books are free through the end of November. It just took awhile longer than I expected for the price to change. Sorry about this confusion. I feel doubly humiliated, but life goes on. So, here are the links if anyone would like to pick up or recommend some free books.

Well... this is really embarrassing.

I'm writing this post to tell you some bad and embarrassing news. I misunderstood what a free book promotion means on Amazon. You have to have Amazon Prime to borrow the books for free. This means, sadly, that my two novels, The Ocean's Call and The Siren's Apprentice, aren't free to keep. You have my sincerest apologies for this. I hope you aren't as disappointed as I am.

I Finished Writing Book 3!

Book three, The Lunar Artifact, has a complete first draft! I finally finished it, and I've started writing book four! Also, it's NaNoWriMo(National Novel Writing Month)!

Okay, so that's what I'm super late in telling you guys, but thanks for waiting. So, I hope you will look forward to book three this summer when it WILL be published ON TIME. Book four and future books(yes there will be future books), will sadly take a little longer. Please be patient with me. I am only one person after all, and I'm still new to the whole author gig.

Here's what's up in the NaNoverse: I have nineteen days left to write book four if I want to win NaNoWriMo this year. Since I have finished book three, I won't kill myself if I fail. Still, I would love it if I could reach 50,000 words for once. I was so close last year too.

In other news, my current Kindle ebooks are going to have a promotion soon. They will be free for five whole days this month! So if you'd like to give a gift for the holidays or recommend them to family and friends, this is a nice time of year for it.

The dates for this promotion are November 26th - November 30th.
The links to the ebooks are:
Book #1: The Ocean's Call
Book #2: The Siren's Apprentice

Thank you for reading this and to everyone who has supported me. Good bye for now. (Also, I'd better say happy Turkey Day if you're in the USA. This might be my only chance to say it on time... o_O)

8 Days Until NaNoWriMo 2013!

Hello again, everyone. Sorry for the month long wait. So, 2013's NaNoWriMo(National Novel Writing Month) contest starts in about eight days. That's just a little over a week left! I'm very excited about this annual month of noveling fun. I must confess, however, that I'm only about half done with writing book three(The Lunar Artifact). So, I'll be working on that this week and possibly into part of November. I have the basic outline for book four, which as I said earlier, is my NaNoWriMo novel this year.

So, two books in one season. That's my plan. I'll do my best and see how it goes. Because of this, book three will be on time this year. I don't plan on publishing it 2-3 months late this Summer. Sorry about the lateness of book two. I can only learn from my mistakes and do better next time.

My master plan for NaNoWriMo is simple. WRITE WHETHER I WANT TO OR NOT!!! It may be a fun activity, but it's also my job as an author. I have all my equipment in mind as well.

  1. An awesome NaNoWriMo themed coffee mug. (With coffee, of course.)
  2. Cinnamon scones made by moi.
  3. Pepsi. (It's one of the five basic food groups. Drink it or else!)
  4. My fantabulous laptop.
  5. My dad's ancient typewriter. (Just for the heck of it, maybe?)
  6. The NaNoWriMo Writing Game. (Also made by moi. Yes. I design games too!)
  7. Construction headphones. (To combat my sister's evil stereo.)
  8. And my 2013 NaNoWriMo Poster!
See it here:
So, wish me luck. I'll get back to you when I can. Thanks to everyone who has read my books, and I hope you enjoy what I write in the future!

Book #3 is in the Works

The title says it. I'm already working on book #3 of my series, Sirena's Children. So what has brought on this sudden burst of inspiration? What's with this writing drive after taking so long to finish book #2? Honestly, I'm not sure, but it's definitely a good thing.

It could simply be because I'm less stressed. I finally graduated from high school, which has taken a huge burden off my shoulders. My personal life is going pretty well, although I should try leaving my fortress of solitude more often.
(Fortress of Solitude definition: my room.)

In fact, I'm feeling so good, that I'm honestly considering tackling a huge goal for this fall. That goal is to finish book #3 before November, then write book #4 during NaNoWriMo. Yes. You read the word. National Novel Writing Month is a definite possibility.

I won't be so busy stressing over my classes this time because I'm not in school anymore. Hopefully, that among other things will make a huge difference. Don't get me wrong. I love school. I'd like to go to college someday. Sadly, I don't know what I want to study yet, and I want to spend my money wisely.

Anyway, back to book #3. It has a good, ready to use, outline, and I've already written 11,500 words. That means I'm more than 1/5th done with it! So far I'm on a roll. Don't get too excited, though. I'm still planning to release my books annually to keep me sane.

This book has been a challenge so far. It's not like anything else I've ever written. The reason for this includes spoilers, but I can say this: I've been, and will continue, doing a lot of research for it. Research of this kind is very new to me. I'm used to doing a fairly minimal amount of research when it comes to my writing, but this book is different. It's going to be special.

The name of book #3 most likely wont change. The same goes for its cover.

In other not so awesome news, I have an announcement to make. For business reasons, starting on November 1st, my books will only be available on I thought I should give you fair warning, so there it is. More information about my books can be found on my website.

Thank you for reading, and I'll post again very soon. Actually, I should make that Queen of Overdue Blogging style. Later folks!

The Siren's Apprentice is Available in More Formats

Here's a post that's way overdue, but that's not unexpected considering my title as the Queen of Overdue Blogging. So here's the latest news. The Siren's Apprentice is now available in print, as a Nook ebook, and in several other formats via

For those of you who would like to read my second book in a format besides Kindle, here are the links: Print, Nook, Smashwords

Also, I've recently enrolled both The Ocean's Call and The Siren's Apprentice in the new Kindle MatchBook program. This means, that if you buy the print version of the book, you can get a discount on the digital one. In the case of The Ocean's Call, that means a free ebook! The Sirens Apprentice would be $0.99.

Thank you to everyone who reads my books. It means a lot to me. Later folks!

The Siren's Apprentice is Published!

This is an awesome day, folks. The sequel to The Ocean's Call, my new novel called The Siren's Apprentice, is now published! It is available on Kindle at this very moment. It will be available for Nook in addition to other formats soon. For now, you can get it on Amazon if you're interested. Also, the paperback will take awhile too. The process of preparing print books is a slower one than ebooks.

In any case, I hope you will give The Siren's Apprentice a try. I hope you will enjoy it. I hope this long journey will end amazingly. However, don't think the even longer one is over. I still have to write book three, don't I?

Yes. There will be a book three. I have plans for more books after that too. I hope you'll stay with me, and read Cassie's story! For more information about my novels, please continue reading.

The Ocean's Call

When Cassie moves from the oceanless Rocky Mountains to a small fishing town in California, she expects the worst. But when she sees the ocean she immediately feels it calling to her. Not long after her first swim in salt water, she learns that not only can she hold her breath for six hours, she has grown a tail! Cassie is a mermaid, and after awhile it becomes apparent that something bigger is at play. Desperate to find the truth about her birth parents, she searches for answers. Discovering sunken ships and stone tablets written in ancient Greek is only the beginning. With the help of her friends and her newly found powers, she just might figure out what's going on, before it's too late. . .

The Siren's Apprentice

After the twisted events of Halloween, Cassie wants nothing to do with her siren kin. When a strange boy shows up at her school, however, she is inevitably pulled deeper into their world. Not only is David Turner a siren, he's supposedly her future mate. New complications arise during the next full moon. The power of the Blood Moon running through her veins acts up, causing her and Sirena to unleash something from the darkest depths of the ocean. A malevolent sea daemon that should only exist in myths and legends. It brings with it promises of death, destruction, and the downfall of Cassie’s entire world.

I finished The Siren's Apprentice!

I finished The Siren's Apprentice!!! Well, the first draft, anyway. All the chapters are ready for editing. It took me a lot longer than I had originally planned, but hey, it's done now! It should also be ready to read as an ebook in a matter of weeks!

For those of you who don't know what The Siren's Apprentice is, it's the second book in my fantasy series, Sirena's Children. The series focuses on mermaids, sirens, and elements from Greek mythology.

If you're interested in that kind of thing, here are links to the book trailers:

Camp NaNoWriMo Has Arrived!

So, it's July 1st. That means Camp NaNoWriMo has officially begun. It's time for me to pack my virtual camping gear and get this book on a roll. The Siren's Apprentice must become a reality!

As I hinted in an earlier post, I couldn't help writing some words before the event. Not only did I finish the expanded romance in the book, I wrote two and a half chapters. That leaves me with only 14,000 more words to go!

I'm hoping to finish writing before this month is over. After that I'll edit like crazy, then hopefully I can publish The Siren's Apprentice sometime in August. I am sorry it's taking so long to finish. I had hoped to publish it in early June. Meeting deadlines can be pretty tough, though, especially for a new author.

For those of you who don't know about my books, they're fantasy/young adult novels. They incorporate elements from Greek mythology with a unique take on mermaids and sirens. If you would like more information, click here.

Again, thank you to everyone who has read this blog and my book, The Ocean's Call. It means so much to me. Later folks!

The Ocean's Call is $0.99!

As of this writing various retailers, such as Amazon, are setting the price of The Ocean's Call to $0.99! This will most likely be for good. I'm hoping more people will be willing to give my fantasy series a try because of it.

Also, The Siren's Apprentice is on its way! Camp NaNoWriMo is starting in a week, so I finally have an excuse to finish the book. I'll probably just start writing before then though. I'm finding it hard to wait. I guess special events like this make me more excited than just any time of year.

The only not so nice news in this post is that I've unpublished The Siren's Apprentice on Viewing the old rough draft chapters is no longer possible. I've since updated and added onto them, and I would rather just offer you the final work. Don't worry, the ebook will be on Smashwords again in its finished form.

Lastly, I again want to thank everyone who has bought my book and checked out this blog. It means so much to me that people read what I have to say on here and in Cassie's world.

If you're interested in reading The Ocean's Call, here are links to the sites where you buy them:

Camp NaNoWriMo and The Siren's Apprentice

By seeing the word NaNoWriMo in the title of this post, some of you may be thinking I've lost it. The last time I attempted NaNoWriMo, I had a difficult time dealing with the writing. This is a little different, though. This is Camp NaNoWriMo, and it's this July.

So what is Camp NaNoWriMo? It's a smaller scale version of the main event in November, but it's during spring and summer. The nice thing about it, is that the word count is much more flexible. I won't have to write 50,000 words this time. This will just give me an excuse to finally get The Siren's Apprentice done.

So far, the romance adjustments are coming along nicely. I've definitely been making an effort to exercise more. I'm actually vacationing with my grandparents, cousins, and aunt in the mountains. The weather is hot but nice. There really is nothing else like fresh mountain air. My cat is obsessed with watching the chipmunks. Don't worry, I haven't let her catch any, and I don't plan to. It is cute, though.

Anyway, my goal is to publish The Siren's Apprentice some time in August. I just have to write a few more scenes and do some re-writing, and I'll be done with the improved romance development. I'm trying to get that done before July so I can just write forward from where I left off before. After that, I'll do a lot of polishing and editing, then I will do my utmost to release the book before this summer ends.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me by buying my book and reading this blog. I really appreciate it. Later folks!

It's the One Year Anniversary of "The Ocean's Call"!

Today is the one year anniversary of my first book, The Ocean's Call!
I released it on kindle on June 3rd, 2012. The paperback got released later in the month, but its release date was accidentally set to June 1st. So, technically today is the real deal.

The Siren's Apprentice is still underway, and I have an idea that could help it get done faster. Exercise. Physical activity is great for getting the blood flowing and the brain going. I may even try some swimming. That made writing The Ocean's Call really fun because I could imagine I was Cassie. Sadly, I can't breathe under water. That would be awesome but impossible. What would be even more awesome was if I lived near the ocean, but I don't. Don't get me wrong, I love the rocky mountains, but the ocean is a real treat whenever I'm near it.

This summer has been my planned release date for The Siren's Apprentice, but I may not get it done quite in time. I'm hoping I can, though, so we'll see. At the very least, I'm aiming to release it this year. Sorry this is taking so long, I will get working on it ASAP. Later folks.

I'm Back and Writing

OMG! I beat my overdue blogging record! Sorry for the delay, folks, and don't worry. The Siren's Apprentice is still on its way to completion. The honest truth about why I've been so absent is simple. I'm human, and humans all have flaws. One of mine happens to be severe anxiety tendencies. As hard as it is for me to say it, NaNoWriMo, in addition to other things, took too much of a toll on me. I pushed myself harder than I could handle. I am making a comeback, though, and I have definitely written more of the book.

I'm refraining from posting any more rough draft chapters on Smashwords, at least for now. One reason for this is that I'm expanding the romance from the middle out. I think I went into it way too fast, and it was done poorly. So before I finish the last chapters, I'm working on some middle chapters that focus on a hopefully more believable relationship between Cassie and David. This will cause several changes in the already existing scenes, which would make updating periodically difficult and confusing.

Thank you to anyone who has kept their eye on this blog or bought my book. I hope I can publish the sequel in a reasonable amount of time. For now I'll simply have to try and compensate for my lack of posts. Maybe my position as the Queen of Overdue Blogging isn't so glamorous after all. :)
